Hospital times: how much?

How much insulin, how many carbs

It takes a while to figure it out, and you won’t have to worry about it for another few months. In most cases, the doctor at the hospital will tell you:

  • How many units of long-acting insulin to inject every day
  • How many units of short-acting insulin to inject per meal for a fixed number of carbs, or how many units per carbs (the ratio)
  • How many units of short acting insulin to inject for a correction, given how high you are
  • How many carbs to take when you are low.
