Supplies: a quick overview
We’ll talk in detail about necessary supplies soon. But, as a first cut, when I went home, this is what I took home with me:
- alcohol wipes to sanitize injection sites if needed
- small box of wet wipes to clean up a finger before testing
- lancet device and some lancets, to poke my fingers and create a blood drop to test my BG
- glucose meter and a bunch of strips, to test my BG
- long-acting “basal”insulin pens
- short-acting “bolus”insulin cartridges and a reusable insulin pen
- tubes of glucose tablets (4 grams each)
- logbook, to log every food I ate, every BG test I took, and every insulin ejection I made
- kid’s book about diabetes
- small backpack to keep all my supplies
